Lesson For The Young

When you are very young

Old age starts at forty five

The wrinkles start showing

The waist won’t stop growing

And the hairline slides on by

As the waistline starts to thicken

The shoulders start to droop

By the time you reach sixty five

The gait becomes much slower

The body assumes a stoop

The bias against you starts to grow

Come on old timer out of the way

Why are you so bloody slow

I estimate you should be dead by now

You should have left long ago

But don’t forget or worry youngsters

And please stop calling me mate

I’m happy to take you jibes

You’re not the first to underestimate

Underestimate the old Gimmers

And I will guarantee

That sometime in the future

With the old you will agree
