Ipple-Pen Diary -Christmas Irony

Each year in our little village in South Devon one of the local churches does a fantastic ‘reverse advent’ Calendar box in which people during the month of December collect food and essentials in a box which is then delivered to the church and taken to ensure that those who, through no fault of their own I might add, would have nothing at Christmas.

It is a brilliant and fantastic thing which is replicated across many towns and villages throughout the United Kingdom and just shows the kindness of so many at this time of year.

The irony is that the vast majority of the recipients of the food and essentials such as sanitary products are in need as a result of our own Governments Policies and yet ironically the majority of those who have filled the boxes will go and vote for the very same Government that has created the poverty and need in the first place.
