Our People

When our people cried

Begging us for help

We treated them like dogs

We beat them until they whelped

And as our people suffered

From poverty and ill health

We treated them with disdain

As we boasted of our wealth

And when the people rose

And started to fight back

We called them scum and terrorists

But we could not hold them back

So when our people won

Their freedom and their pride

We had to pay the price

For all of our greed and lies
