Mirror

We found an old mirror

When my gran passed away

The silver back was fading

It had seen better days

It belonged to her great gran

If it could what would it say

Would it talk of the young

Who through the ages –

Before it stood talł

Staring at the reflection

Of a different person

Stooped and so old

The reflection of life

As age took its toll

Would it remember

The beauty of youth

The vibrant ambition

Of joy and of love

Whatever the mirror

Remembers of yesteryear

I’ll cherish and keep it

A reminder of gran

Of memories held so dear
