Political Loyalty

Loyalty is the creed

By what politicians claim

They live and breathe

They expect the voters

To remain loyal to them

To vote for the party

To the very end

It’s on what politicians depend

Anything to get elected

Promises without end

They ask for the voters views

Which after an election

Are immediately rejected

Until that is the next time

When once again we find

That politicians want the voters

To be their bestest friends

Politicians don’t understand

Why the people sigh

When they hear more false promises

And know that they are lies

But voters across this land

From shore to glistening shore

Are sure they’ve had enough –

And will not be fooled again

Being cynical to the core
