Language – Internet Danger

Imagine my surprise that having recently written about how I accessed sites on the Internet when looking for images of the innocent pastime of throwing snow balls that it should happen again.

I am definitely out of touch with the modern world and word definition changes.

This time I was out having dinner with friends when the question of music from the 60’s that were number one hits by artists and/or groups who weren’t well known today.

Music is fascinating in the way that it brings back memories from the past.

Which brings me back to the subject of this blog.

I remembered a fragment of a song that I thought had been number one in the mid 60’s “open up your eyes” and something about Everlasting Love, I could even remember the melody but that is as far as it went.

In the good new – rather than old – fashioned way I thought I’d go all high tech and try and find out if there was such a song and if it was a number one hit by entering the words “Everlasting Love” into the Internet search engines.

A word of warning – Don’t try this at home – well at least don’t without first telling your loved ones what you are doing because the shock of what comes up may be too much for them.

All I can say is that it definitely not the lyrics to a song.

It’s perhaps just as well I’m not easily shocked or judgemental.

But it does highlight the dangers and I have to admit the amazing power and influence of the Internet and the information it reveals.

However once I’d got over my surprise and entered “Everlasting Love Song Lyrics” it turns out it is a song from a group called The Love Affair – I didn’t have the courage to enter “The Love Affair” into a search engine – who had a number one hit in 1968 with the song Everlasting Love.

Just for the avoidance of sceptics I’ve acknowledge the writers and added the lyrics.

I wonder how many more times I’ll be caught out inadvertently opening sites that I would best prefer not to know exist.🤔🤔

LYRICS

Hearts gone astray

Deep in her when they go

I went away

Just when you needed me so

You won’t regret

I’ll come back begging you

Won’t you forget

Welcome love we once knew

Open up your eyes

Then you’ll realize

Here I stand with my everlasting love

Need you by my side

Girl to be my bride

Never be denied everlasting love

Hearts gone astray

Deep in her when they go

I went away

Just when you needed me so

You won’t regret

I’ll come back begging you

Won’t you forget

Welcome love we once knew

Open up your eyes

Then you’ll realize

Here I stand with my everlasting love

Need you by my side

Girl to be my bride

Never be denied everlasting love

From the very start

Open up your heart

Feel that you’re falling everlasting love

Need a love to last forever

Need a love to last forever

Need a love to last forever

Need a love to last forever

I Need a love to last forever
