David Palethorpe

The views, thoughts and opinions of an insignificant speck in the Universe 😀

Victory Tears

Victory in war

To the winners

Go the spoils

There’s no champions

After what the victors saw

They stand heads bowed

A mix of sadness and of joy

No sense of elation

Just thankful for the day

One filled with desperate sorrow

There’s quiet tears now

Rolling down their cheeks

Not for happiness for having won

More a sense of relief

Giving grateful thanks

For the lives to come

Sad tears and happy tears

They both look just the same

They’ll seep and flow

For friend and foe

When the war is done
