Will Conservative Demonization Policy Work

Will and more importantly perhaps when will people know if the Conservatives policy of demonizing millions of ordinary people with the aim of setting them against each other leading to individual and collective isolation has worked?

Let’s start with the almost hysterical statements by the Chancellor of the Exchequer supported by the Prime Minister in an attempt to justify their reforms of the Welfare System which has plunged tens of thousands of families into poverty.

Desperation causes even the most intelligent of people to make not only stupid but nonsensical statements of which the Prime Minister Theresa May and her friends have excelled during the General Election campaign.

Throughout the whole of the Conservative Governments time in office the whole crux of their policy is to demonize, divide and isolate people.

It is a policy that has been used down the ages by Governments who are intent on carrying out what amounts to economic tyranny the like of which we have seen in countries across the globe where the rich get infinitely richer and the poor get increasingly poorer.

The Conservatives economic failure is becoming increasingly more obvious with not only the number of people and families falling below the poverty line but also the gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have – not’s’ expanding at an increasing rate.

How in one of the wealthiest nations on the planet can a Government justify giving huge tax break to millionaires at the same time hundreds of thousands of families have fallen into a poverty trap?

I wrote some time ago about the dangers of people burying their heads in the sand and ignoring what the Conservatives were doing.

Sadly the predictions have come true and just like the poem by Pastor Martin Niemoller.

First They Came – Pastor Martin Niemoller

First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me

They are now coming for you, and whether it is police on the streets or nurses and doctors in our hospitals, whether it is the shortage of school places and teachers or support for the elderly there are increasingly fewer people to come to your aid.

The only saving grace is that we live in a democracy and can vote those who are making the decisions out of office.

The problem of course is that if the Conservative policies of divisiveness succeeds the electorate will be beaten down and demoralised to the extent that they will not go out to vote and by default the Conservatives remain to continue their economic and social tyranny.

It is supported by an electoral policy that commonly takes the form of ignoring and refusing to contact large parts of the community not only during an election campaign but between elections.

It is why Theresa May has refused to take part in debates with the other party leaders.

It is why she has refused to meet ordinary people.

It is why the Conservatives will only be contacting those they think will vote Conservatives; after all why stir up those who might oppose you.

It is a policy borne out of the arrogance that takes people for granted and may well come back to haunt them.

In real terms if the people don’t get involved and allow themselves to be excluded by politicians who seem hell-bent on championing the Conservative agenda then it may well end up being “and there was no one left to speak up for me”.

It is why people should consider joining with those of us who do speak up and make sure your voice is heard.

There is an alternative.

But the alternative will only become a reality if people vote.

So when will people know if the Conservatives policy of demonizing millions of ordinary people with the aim of setting them against each other leading to individual and collective isolation has worked?

We will know on Friday 9th June 2017 following the General Election on Thursday 8th June.
